Marzena Weber is a graduate of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago. She has studied both fashion design and graphic design. Originally from Poland, and presently living in Algonquin, she is a self-taught fiber artist. Marzena creates abstracted and figurative art pieces with emphasis on color and texture. Work is produced through a combination of wet and dry felting techniques. Individual pieces are a mixture of 2D and 3D objects. These include wearable accessories, such as handbags and scarves, and also home decor items such as table runners, pillows and wall hangings. Materials used come from natural sources. These include merino wool fibers, mohair fibers, tencel fibers, wool yarn, silk, wool fabric and wood. Each piece is handmade, without the help of assistants, in small studio at the artist's home.
